We’ve been holding onto this one for a while now, and we’re so excited to finally share Gavin and Victoria’s wedding day with you. Their day was so much more than just a beautiful event—it was a full-circle moment for all of us. We first met Gavin and Victoria this past summer when we did their engagement photos at Rough Ridge. By the end of their engagement session, it felt like we were hanging out with old friends.
What makes it even more meaningful is that shortly after that shoot, Hurricane Helene tore through the area. Landmarks we explored together were damaged or gone entirely. That gallery now holds even more weight because it captures pieces of North Carolina that no longer look the same. So, when we returned to North Carolina for their nuptials at Brown Mountain Beach Resort, we were all emotional. We feel so honored to have walked through this season with them; from that very first hike at Rough Ridge to this beautiful, resilient celebration.
Brown Mountain Beach Lenoir NC
Brown Mountain holds a special place in our hearts. We’d been there just 48 hours before Helene hit, shooting another wedding, and coming back to see the transformation was nothing short of miraculous. The team at BMBR, Kelsey, Jeremy, and everyone else, are some of the kindest, most hard-working people we’ve met. They rebuilt so much in such a short amount of time, including the beloved speakeasy in the pavilion basement where Gavin and Victoria’s reception was held. The river had risen 28 feet above normal. Homes were flooded, including the owners’ and their family’s. And still, the venue looked stunning on Gavin & Victoria’s wedding day. It’s a true testament to the resilience of the community there.
Intimate Mountain Wedding North Carolina
Gavin and Victoria’s wedding was the last one we shot in 2024, and it was the perfect ending to a really hard season. With 40 guests, their mountain wedding was intimate and intentional. The whole day felt like a deep breath. There was zero stress (or cell phone signal, just as an FYI), just joy and connection among everyone in attendance. We laughed so much that our cheeks hurt the next day! Their first look was one of the sweetest we’ve ever photographed; Gavin got teary-eyed, completely in awe of Victoria. And rightfully so. She was stunning in every way in her backless satin gown. Neither of them stopped smiling the entire day. She was the ultimate go-with-the-flow bride, and we’re still not over it. They gave us full creative control and let us explore, wander, and document everything our hearts saw. It’s rare and special to work with a couple that trusts you so completely, and we don’t take that for granted.
French Renaissance North Carolina Mountain Wedding Details
Every detail was a reflection of who they are, from the vintage French Renaissance theme to the heirloom jewelry Victoria wore. Each piece had been passed down through the women in her family, and it made her bridal look even more meaningful. Leah, their planner who works exclusively with BMBR, knocked it out of the park! Similarly, Lindsey from Edgemont Garden brought their floral vision to life in the most magical way. And then there was the reception which was a sight to behold in & of itself. Instead of the usual wedding playlist, they chose jazz and old classics that nodded to their New Orleans roots. It created such a soulful and fun atmosphere while guests enjoyed a spread catered by Nana’s Porch. The decor was warm, moody, and such a reflection of their style as a couple. We loved how they made every part of their day completely their own.
